Article 1: Master the German Word Order in Simple Steps

One of the biggest hurdles for beginners learning German is sentence structure. The golden rule to remember is that in a standard declarative sentence, the verb always takes the second position. For example, when introducing yourself saying "Ich heiße..." (I am called...), the pronoun comes first, followed immediately by the verb. Our app helps you practice these patterns naturally without boring grammar drills.

Sprachweg is a German speaking practice app designed to help learners speak German through short stories, listening, recall, and speaking exercises. This Privacy Policy explains what information Sprachweg accesses, collects, uses, stores, and shares when you use the app.

1. Information we collect and use

Account information

You can use Sprachweg without creating a permanent account. The app may create a temporary anonymous Supabase user ID so the app can function before you sign in.

If you choose Continue with Google, Sprachweg may receive information made available by Google for authentication, such as your email address, display name, profile image, and Google-linked authentication identifier. We use this information only to sign you in, identify your Sprachweg account, and protect or restore your learning progress.

Learning and progress data

Sprachweg stores learning information such as completed stories or parts, speaking progress, lesson scores, practice activity, streak information, speaking time, and related learning preferences.

Some progress is stored locally on your device. If you sign in with Google, your learning progress may also be backed up to our Supabase database so it can be restored or synchronized.

Microphone and speech recognition

Sprachweg requests microphone access only when you use speaking features. The microphone is used to capture your speech so that speech recognition can convert what you say into text and the app can provide speaking feedback.

Sprachweg does not intentionally store your raw microphone recordings on our servers. Speech recognition may be provided by Android, Google, or another speech recognition service available on your device. Audio used for recognition may therefore be processed by that provider according to its own settings and privacy policy.

Subscription and purchase information

If you purchase Sprachweg Pro, payments are processed by Google Play. Sprachweg does not receive or store your full payment card details. We may receive and store information needed to determine your subscription access, such as product ID, subscription status, entitlement status, purchase verification information, and related identifiers.

App settings and local data

Sprachweg may store settings such as your daily speaking goal, audio playback speed, local lesson state, and authentication session information on your device. Sensitive authentication session information is stored using secure device storage where supported.

2. How we use information

We use information only as needed to:

  • provide speaking lessons and speech feedback;
  • save and restore your learning progress;
  • authenticate your account and protect it from unauthorized access;
  • manage Sprachweg Pro access and subscription entitlements;
  • remember your app preferences;
  • maintain, secure, and improve the app; and
  • respond to support, privacy, or account deletion requests.

3. Third-party services

Sprachweg currently relies on the following service providers:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, cloud progress backup, and secure server functions.
  • Google Sign-In — optional Google account authentication.
  • Google Play — app distribution and subscription billing.
  • Android / device speech recognition services — speech-to-text processing when speaking practice is used.

These providers may process information under their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Advertising

The current version of Sprachweg does not contain third-party advertising SDKs and does not use your personal data for personalized advertising.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell personal or sensitive user data. Information is shared only with service providers when necessary to operate the app, authenticate users, process speech recognition, provide cloud storage, or process Google Play subscriptions, or when disclosure is required by law.

6. Data security

Sprachweg uses secure network connections such as HTTPS for data transmitted between the app and our backend. Access to cloud user data is restricted using authentication and database access controls. Authentication sessions are stored using secure device storage where supported.

7. Data retention

Local learning data remains on your device until it is cleared, the app is reset, you sign out where local account-bound progress is removed, or the app is uninstalled.

Cloud account and progress data are retained while your Sprachweg account remains active, unless longer retention is required for legitimate security, fraud-prevention, legal, or regulatory reasons.

8. Delete your account and data

If you have a permanent Sprachweg account, you can request permanent deletion directly inside the app:

Profile → Delete account → Permanently delete account

When your Sprachweg account is deleted, we delete the Sprachweg account and associated cloud learning data, subject to any limited information we are legally required to retain.

Deleting your Sprachweg account does not delete your Google Account. It also does not automatically cancel an active Google Play subscription. Google Play subscriptions must be canceled separately through Google Play.

9. Your choices and permissions

You may deny or revoke microphone access in Android settings. If microphone permission is disabled, speaking features that depend on speech recognition will not work.

Google Sign-In is optional. You may continue using the app without linking a permanent Google account, although cloud backup and account recovery features may be unavailable.

10. Children

Sprachweg is a general language-learning application and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, please contact us so we can review and delete it where required.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Sprachweg features, service providers, or data practices change. The date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are published.
